Other Charges

Apart from the tuition and registration fees, candidates should budget for the following compulsory charges:

Acceptance Fee: N15,000. This is paid by all newly admitted students to secure admission. It is non-refundable.

Accommodation Premium: N200,000. This covers hostel accommodation for students who want to stay on campus. It is optional and subject to availability.

Other charges like medical screening, ICT levy, library, and departmental fees may apply during clearance. Students should keep at least N50,000 extra for these.

Important Information for New and Returning Students

Payment Process: All payments are to be made through the university portal. Do not pay to any individual or agent. The official admission portal is http://jsumahs.kum.edu.ng/admission-login.

Installment Payment: As of the 2025/2026 session, JSUMAHS allowed students to pay in two installments of 60 percent and 40 percent. Confirm if the same policy applies for 2026/2027 from the bursary department.

Indigeneship Verification: To pay the indigene rate, you must present a valid Certificate of Indigeneship from Jigawa State during physical clearance. Without it, you will be charged the non-indigene fee.

When is the Deadline?

The university has not announced a deadline yet. However, late payment usually attracts a penalty of N10,000 to N20,000. Fresh students who fail to pay acceptance and part of school fees within 2 weeks of admission risk losing their slot.

How This Compares to Other Medical Universities

For context, here is how JSUMAHS 2026/2027 fees compare with other state medical universities:

B.Sc Nursing Science: JSUMAHS Indigene N840,000 vs EBSU N180,000 vs UNIMED N250,000

B.Sc Medical Lab Science: JSUMAHS Indigene N840,000 vs ABSU N150,000 vs OSUMS N300,000

JSUMAHS fees are higher because it is a specialized medical university with modern facilities, new equipment, and low student to lecturer ratio. The state government subsidizes fees for indigenes.

 Admission Still Ongoing for 2026/2027

JSUMAHS is currently admitting candidates into all programmes listed above. The UTME cut-off mark is 170 for Science and Computing and Social and Management Sciences, and 200 for Basic Medical Sciences.

How To apply:

1. Visit http://jsumahs.kum.edu.ng/admission-login

2. Create a profile and generate invoice for Post-UTME Screening fee

3. Upload O’Level results, JAMB result, and indigene certificate if applicable

4. Await screening date via email or SMS

Direct Entry candidates with ND, NCE, IJMB, or A’Level can also apply.

Final Advice

If you are a prospective student, confirm the total fee for freshers before paying. Returning students should pay early to avoid late payment charges. Always keep proof of payment and print your receipts from the portal.

Do not patronize fraudsters who claim they can help you pay less or get admission without merit. JSUMAHS does not work with agents.
